“HOW WE RE-CYCLE”
Circularity follows multiple principles, such as “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, Redesign, Recover, Repair”. At Milremo, we focus on the aspect of “Recycle” by offering recycled materials for some of our products, more specifically: jerseys with recycled polyester and shorts with recycled polyester and recycled polyamide.
Why is this important? Because recycling offers environmental advantages.
Advantages of recycled polyester:
– The production of recycled polyester uses less energy than what is needed to make virgin polyester. Various LCA-based studies report that the production of recycled polyester can require less energy than the production of virgin polyester, with reported energy savings of 33% to 53%.*
– Using more recycled polyester, and in general recycled synthetic materials, reduces our dependence on petroleum as the raw material for our fabric needs.
– Diverting PET bottles for this process reduces landfill because using recycled PET as a raw material can help keep existing plastic materials in use.
